The award recognises Aquascot's long-standing commitment to quality, innovation and partnership, marking the first time the Highland-based business has received the honour in more than 30 years of trading with the retailer.
Presented as part of Waitrose's annual supplier awards programme, the accolade is among the most prestigious recognitions in the UK grocery sector. Aquascot was selected from a highly competitive field spanning multiple product categories and regions.
Headquartered in Alness, Ross-shire, Aquascot has supplied Waitrose since 2003 and today provides the retailer's full range of own brand Scottish salmon products, alongside premium Scottish trout. The business has built its reputation on delivering consistently high-quality, responsibly sourced seafood while maintaining close and collaborative relationships throughout the supply chain.
The award is a significant achievement not only for Aquascot, but also for the Highlands and Scotland's seafood sector, demonstrating the vital role that regional businesses play in supplying the UK's top retailers.
Maddy Wilson, partner and director of own brand at Waitrose, said in a press release: “Aquascot earns this award for exceptional partnership, dedication and collaboration, bringing consistently high-quality products that truly do the Waitrose own brand proud.”
Aquascot is one of Scotland's largest employee-owned businesses, with a culture built around shared ownership, accountability and long-term thinking. The company attributes its success to this model, which fosters the commitment, expertise and attention to detail that underpin its achievements.
The recognition follows a strong period of growth for the business, which continues to invest in its people, facilities and customer partnerships while strengthening its position as a trusted supplier of premium Scottish seafood.
Andy Wilson, partner and commercial director at Aquascot, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be named Waitrose Own Brand Supplier of the Year. With our long-standing relationship, this award reflects our shared commitment to quality and our passion for showcasing both the strength of our employee-owned business and the very best of the Highlands on a national stage.”
The award further reinforces Aquascot's position as a leading seafood processor and highlights the strength of Scotland's food and drink sector, which continues to enjoy a growing reputation for quality, provenance and responsible production both in the UK and internationally.
