Taking place from 21 to 22 May, 2024, the third edition of the Blue Food Innovation Summit aims to delve into the fast-developing landscape of aquaculture and ocean health. In the context of a global food system that is increasingly under stress from conflict and climate change, the summit aims to put blue food, sustainable aquaculture, and restorative ocean practices at the heart of the global conversation.

The Summit will host pioneering companies from around the globe to discuss innovation within the aquatic food sector, including sustainable aquafeed production, seaweed farming, fish health and welfare, and digital platforms for smallholder farmers.

“Placing the blue foods’ agenda firmly within considerations of global food supply has been long overdue. The Summit provides a great opportunity to learn more about the exciting frontiers that aquaculture is pushing against and overcoming,” said a spokesperson from the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), in a press release from the event organisers.

The Summit will showcase pioneering technologies and explore case studies of innovation in action, with the aim of overcoming challenges to the development and growth of the blue foods sector. To achieve this goal, the Summit will provide a platform for knowledge exchange and networking for stakeholders across the industry, including producers, feed suppliers, investors, and innovators.

The Summit will also feature a lineup of talks from leaders and experts in the fields of aquaculture, ocean restoration, and blue innovation, and will provide a platform for discussions on topics such as the optimisation of RAS using AI and data; the potential of regenerative aquaculture for production and environmental restoration; and how digital platforms, financing, and certification can empower small-scale farmers.
