"The funds, set up in 1978, serve to help those who are employed in local agricultural and fisheries industries or agricultural and fisheries product wholesale marketing industries and their families, and those who want to pursue a career in these industries upon completion of their studies," a spokesman for the scholarship fund advisory committee said.
The award for tertiary education is tenable for a full-time degree or sub-degree at local institutions recognised under the Tertiary Student Finance Scheme – Publicly-funded Programmes and the Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students of the Student Financial Assistance Agency, as well as at recognised overseas institutions.

Those studying the following courses may also apply: agriculture, veterinary science, horticulture, agronomy, integrated agribusiness management, fisheries science, marine biology, fisheries technology or other applied science subjects directly related to the industries or related trades.
Applications from students pursuing or intending to pursue a second bachelor's degree, research or post-graduate programme will not be considered.
