Aimed at veterinarians, aquatic animal health specialists and aquaculture professionals, the courses will take place in Singapore and Italy in November and December 2026. Each programme combines 40 hours of self-paced online study with a five-day residential component delivered in English.
WVEPAH is an international non-profit organisation that provides practical veterinary education programmes focused on animal health, food security and the One Health approach.
Module I – Fundamentals of operational farm health management in aquaculture will be held at James Cook University Singapore from 16 to 20 November. The introductory course will provide practical, science-based training in aquatic animal anatomy and welfare, infectious diseases, farm diagnostics, biosecurity, water quality, nutrition, epidemiology, disease surveillance, outbreak response and vaccination strategies.
The residential component will include laboratory sessions, necropsy techniques, microscopy, case discussions and practical training in operational farm health management. The programme will use a One Health approach to explore how aquatic animal health, environmental conditions and food production are interconnected.
Module II – Specialisation: health management and biosecurity in main Mediterranean aquaculture species will take place at the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie in Padua, Italy, from 30 November to 4 December.
Designed as an advanced course, Module II will focus on the main freshwater and marine species farmed across the Mediterranean region. Topics will include fish health, diagnostics, biosecurity, epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance, nutrition, recirculating aquaculture systems, vaccination and sustainable farm management.
The residential programme will feature laboratory sessions, case discussions and technical visits to a hatchery and a trout farm. It is intended to help participants respond to challenges including disease outbreaks, antimicrobial resistance and the implementation of effective biosecurity measures.
Both courses will be delivered by international specialists and will combine scientific instruction with practical and field-based training. Further information and registration are available for Module I – Fundamentals of Operational Farm Health Management in Aquaculture and Module II – Specialisation: Health Management and Biosecurity in Main Mediterranean Aquaculture Species.
