The Norwegian seafood company Mathias Bjørge has announced that Norwegian salmon has been added to its collection. The addition of the new seafood coincides with the construction of a new processing facility on the island of Ellingsøya, Ålesund.

The factory, which has been strategically located on Norway’s west coast, is scheduled to be completed and operational by autumn 2025, and will provide work for up to 30 employees.

“We look forward to opening the new factory and further strengthening Norwegian salmon internationally,” said Mathias Bjørge managing director Torgeir Bjørge, in a press release.

In addition to Bjørge’s new project, the seafood processor has announced the recruitment of a new chief executive, Lars Magne Haram, to head the company’s subsidiary, which will lead the salmon venture. Having experience from across the industry, including work with the Norwegian Food Safety Authority and seafood giant Hofseth, Haram enters the role well set to lead the new project.

“We are going to create something entirely new and ensure even more job opportunities in our region. I'm happy and honoured to be a part of this from the beginning,” said Haram.
