The Seagriculture EU 2024 conference, one of the leading events for the seaweed industry, will be taking place in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands from 18 - 20 June 2024. Under the theme “Bridging Continents,” the organisers of this year’s event aim to transcend geographical boundaries to unite industry stakeholders from diverse corners of the world. The event will provide participants with unique experiences and the perspectives of industry experts and enthusiasts from around the globe.
The event will kick off with an exclusive site visit to Ocean Rainforest - a pioneering producer of seaweed - offering attendees a first-hand glimpse into their operations with expert guides by their side. During the visit participants will get an up-close look at the hatchery and will have the chance to embark on a breathtaking boat journey to explore the cultivation site more closely and witness a seaweed harvest in operation.
“We are excited to welcome all seaweed enthusiasts to the Faroe Islands and show them our work during the site visit of Seagriculture EU 2024. It is a unique opportunity for industry professionals to see our operations,” said Ólavur Gregersen, chief executive of Ocean Rainforest, in a press announcement of the event.
“If you are working with seaweeds, Seagriculture EU 2024 is an event that you should not miss. Boasting a comprehensive conference agenda and prime networking opportunities, it’s an essential gathering for professionals in the field,” he added.
The conference itself will begin on 19 June with five plenary sessions, two panel discussions, and the newly introduced “Seaweed Elevator Pitches,” offering attendees an extensive overview of industry advancements and prospects. This year, the programme includes an international line-up of speakers who will share their expertise, providing attendees with unparalleled learning opportunities. Additionally, researchers will have the opportunity to present their posters, promoting dialogue and discussion among conference delegates.
Among the speakers for the event are Charlina Vitcheva, director-general of DG MARE, and Vincent Doumeizel, senior advisor at the United Nations Global Compact. The programme also features representatives from seaweed industry leaders such as FermentationExperts, Cargill, and Future Feed.
Complementing the conference program is a dynamic trade show, providing a platform for companies within the seaweed industry to showcase their offerings and foster collaboration. Networking events, such as the conference dinner, offer further opportunities for engagement among attendees.
