Chipotle, through supporting these companies, aims to contribute to the development of solutions that tackle sustainability challenges in food production and environmental impact.

CH4 Global seeks to reduce the methane emissions associated with cattle farming - a major contributor to climate change. Their product, Methane Tamer, is a feed additive derived from Asparagopsis seaweed. Early trials suggest it can reduce methane emissions from cattle by up to 90 percent, while also improving energy efficiency in livestock digestion. This innovation has the potential to reduce the environmental footprint of the world’s 1.5 billion cattle farming industry.

"As we all work toward the goal of minimising global greenhouse gas emissions, it's vital for us to invest in companies like CH4 Global that are engineering scalable solutions to reduce harmful global emissions," said Christian Gammill, fund manager of Cultivate Next, in a press release.

"Our investment in CH4 Global will help the team scale production of Methane Tamer to meet its current outstripped demand," he added.

Plantible focuses on harnessing Lemna, commonly known as duckweed, to produce Rubi Protein, a highly functional plant-based protein. The company's vertically integrated platform utilises recirculated water and a low-carbon process to create a sustainable, allergen-friendly alternative to traditional animal and synthetic proteins. With the ability to mimic the texture and taste of animal-based proteins, Rubi Protein offers an alternative solution for a food system often reliant on unsustainable ingredients.

"Investing in a like-minded venture that strives to transform the global food supply could help the entire industry unlock new opportunities for plant-based menu offerings," commented Curt Garner, chief customer and technology officer at Chipotle.
