This action is part of an agreement signed between the Government of Japan and Ecuador.
Mr Ponce highlighted the work done by the fisherman and emphasised the close relationship between Ecuador and the Government of Japan.
Deputy Minister of Aquaculture and Fisheries MAGAP, Guillermo Moran, highlighted the support of Japan in the construction of infrastructure that will improve the safety, technology and development of landing and fishing trade properly.
Yoshiro Hara, coordinator of Fishery Cooperation Foundation of Japan Overseas OFCF, thanked Ecuador for its support for the development of these communities.
As part of the project, three Ecuadorian technicians were trained to add value to fish products.
They in turn trained nine women of the fishing cove, to spread the knowledge acquired.
The plant will have space for raw material, cleaning, packaging, storage and a room for the process and development of new products such as cakes, sausages, burgers, nuggets and Crackers.
The agreement also included a fishing boat and a van with a trailer for easy transportation.
Araceli Biler, president of the Committee for the construction of the Port of San Mateo, thanked the Government. He added that the modern project would generate new revenue and boost the local economy.
