The inaugural expo, which will be held at the Marriott City Centre Hotel in Bristol on 25 and 26 October 2013, is the only fisheries show of its type focused on the English and Welsh fishing industries.
According to Sharon Boyle of organiser Mara Media, with 75 exhibitors now signed up, the expo promises to deliver a varied and exciting showcase for visitors.
“We are really pleased by the strong level of interest in the Bristol fisheries expo and it seems that this is an event which fishermen feel has been long overdue for the English and Welsh fishing industries.”
Among those exhibiting will be Penzance Dry Dock, which hosts one of the UK’s longest established dry docks. The company’s Kevin Ayres said: “We are looking forward to attending the first commercial fishing expo in Bristol. The exhibition provides a great platform to allow us to speak with and inform trawler owners on the full range of ship repair facilities and services available at Penzance Dry Dock.
“We are owners and operators of ships ourselves and therefore understand the requirements and needs of owners, advising them knowledgably from years of experiences and training.”
Smaller boat operators will have plenty to interest them too, including from first-time exhibitor BJ Pots of Bridport, which specialises in manufacturing plastic whelk pots.
Nicola Clayton of BJ Pots said: “We are really looking forward to the show and meeting with fishermen.”
