The farm, which is the result of Algerian-South Korean cooperation produced 1 tonne in 2016 and plans to exploit all its production capacities to officially enter the commercial production phase in 2017, the same official told APS.
A MoU will be signed by Fisheries Ministry and the South Korean party to mark the transition from the experimental phase to that production and marketing.
Inaugurated in January 2016, the farm with an annual production capacity of 20 to 30 tonnes of white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is expected to improve the techniques and the Southern regions' shrimp breeding capacities, by taking advantage of the South Korean technology and experience, said Mr Anane.
The introduction of new consumption habits in those regions and the creation of a pilot area specializing in the breeding of shrimps to create new activities are among the top priorities of this project.
