Hosted by Seafish at the Humber Royal in Grimsby, the event brings together a panel of respected seafood industry speakers and delegates from the UK and around the world.
The Summit is produced and co-ordinated by Seafish in association with organisations from across the Humber region. The event officially opens on the 17 September with an evening event showcasing local artisanal food, including Sciolti’s Handmade Chocolates and Ice-cream, Tom Wood’s Beer and Zest Deli’s cheeseboards. There will also be a delicious range of seafood from leading suppliers in the region and beyond including produce from Young’s Seafood Ltd, Chapman’s Fishcakes, Icelandic Seachill, Flatfish Ltd, the Big Prawn Co. and Paramount 21.
The summit is frequently host to the official launch of national industry projects, and this year is no exception. Amongst others, this year’s summit will screen the Seafish produced film ‘The Business of Processing’, a sequel to the highly successful ‘The Business of Fishing’.
The official launch of the World Seafood Congress 2015, a global event which for first time comes to Grimsby, will also be announced at this year’s summit. Delegates will be first to hear about the speakers, sponsors and plans for the Congress. Registration for World Seafood Congress will officially open, and the Seafish events team will be on hand to take enquiries. Anyone wishing to learn more about World Seafood Congress 2015 can register their interest on the Congress website.
Finally, the first demonstration of the new Risk Assessment for Sourcing Seafood (RASS) will take place at this year’s summit. RASS is the first online resource of its kind, developed by Seafish, and promises to revolutionise the way buyers, retailers and restaurants source seafood.
Paul Williams, CEO of Seafish said: “This event has continued to grow in size and success year upon year, and this year is no exception. With a wide range of internationally respected speakers and delegates, the conference is once again proving to be a flagship event in our national seafood industry calendar.
“We are delighted to launch registration for World Seafood Congress 2015 at the summit, which will further cement the integral role this region plays in our industry. As with every year, we are confident that lively, interesting and valuable discussions on the key issues will be sparked by our speakers at the Summit. It promises to be an event to remember.”
