The unified national trade association representing the US aquaculture community, NAA, is ushering in an energised new chapter with the addition of two dynamic leaders to its team. Earlier this year, Caitlyn Czajkowski joined as executive director, and in October, Maria Smithson came aboard to serve as Director of Membership and Marketing. Together, they bring fresh energy, broad experience, and a shared, passionate commitment to advancing the US aquaculture community.
Czajkowski brings a strong blend of scientific expertise and policy experience to her role as executive director of the National Aquaculture Association. She earned her B.S. in Biology from Rowan University and M.S. in Natural Resources from Delaware State University. A former NOAA Knauss Marine Policy Fellow in the office of US Senator Chris Coons, Czajkowski is passionate about advocating for the growth, sustainability and innovation of American aquaculture.
Joining her this autmun, Smithson steps into the newly revitalised role of director of membership and marketing. Maria brings extensive experience in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and public advocacy of US aquaculture. She will lead efforts to expand NAA’s membership, strengthen outreach and amplify the visibility of US aquaculture nationwide.
“Caitlyn and Maria bring a complementary mix of vision, energy, and expertise that will move NAA forward in exciting ways,” said Sebastian Belle, president of the NAA Board of Directors, in a press release. “This is the start of a strong new era for the organization and for American aquaculture.”
Together, Czajkowski and Smithson are committed to building an inclusive, engaged, and future-focused NAA – one that supports members, enhances partnerships and strengthens the aquaculture sector throughout the United States.
