The US Department of Commerce said on Jan 18 that it started an investigation into subsidized imports of shrimp from China, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Viet Nam.
The probe is the first into Chinese agricultural products from the US. Zhanjiang Guolian Aquatic Products was identified as one of the respondents.
In 2011, the US imported frozen warm water shrimp from China worth an estimated $153.7 million, 8.4 per cent less than in 2010, according to US government's data. The US government has already imposed anti-dumping duty orders on frozen warm water shrimp from Brazil, China, India, Thailand and Viet Nam.
