The decision from Panamanian National Environmental Authority came in response to a complaint filed last year by a Panamanian environmental organisation, Centro de Incidencia Ambiental (CIAM).
AquaBounty stated that when it was informed of issues at its Panama facility, it immediately contacted the Panamanian agency for the environment and initiated a programme to remedy the deficiencies.
The issues were formally resolved in August 2014 and AquaBounty has paid its fine.
AquaBounty further commented that none of the issues questioned the containment, health of the fish, nor the environmental safety of the facility.
The issues were administrative permit issues - some of which had only recently been enacted.
"Our facility is inspected frequently by various agencies of the Panamanian government and, as of Resolution ARACH 071.2014, continues to operate with no sanctions or restrictions," commented AquaBounty.
"We have worked closely with the Panamanian government as they have developed their regulatory process.
