Comercial Pernas S.L. is now trading Yellowfin and albacore tuna from approved Friend of the Sea vessels.
Suppliers of Comercial Pernas are Grupo Pevaeche Eastern Atlantic tuna seiners fleet and pole and line fleet of South African ICV Africa.
Pevaeche Group is made up of four companies; Pevasa (Pesquera Vasco-Montaesa S.A., Inpesca (Compaa Internacional de Pesca S.A.), Atuneros Vascos S.A and Sea Breeze Ventures Ltd. Both Pevaeche and Comercial Pernas have responsible fishing policies in place aimed at minimising the impact on immature fish and other bycaught species. Both fleets catch tuna with methods leading to very limited bycatch.
All Pevaeche tuna seiners have also committed to have full time independent observers on board their vessels fishing in the Atlantic, before the end of 2012.
Comercial Pernas was established in 1989 by D. Jose A. Pernas Diaz, who has been involved in the processing sector since 1968.
The company is dedicated to the marketing of frozen fish, mainly tuna for the preserved, processed and prepared foods sectors. Also, in partnership with Pevasa and other local shareholders, Comercial Pernas, S. L owns two plants for the processing of precooked and raw tuna loins; Frigrove, S. L (already certified FOS) and Fricam, S. L (currenty under assessment.)

SPAIN - Friend Of The Sea sustainable tuna is now being traded in Spain by Comercial Pernas S.L.
