The ASC's new standard claims to provide a comprehensive framework for responsible aquafeed production, setting stringent requirements across key areas including social and labour rights, health and safety, environmental stewardship, and responsible sourcing of raw materials.

"Skretting’s commitment to sustainability across its entire value chain is evident, and I congratulate them on achieving ASC Feed certification. The new ASC Feed Standard ensures that aquafeed production is carried out responsibly, addressing both environmental and social impacts across the entire supply chain. It promotes transparency, traceability, and continuous improvement in the aquaculture industry, ultimately contributing to more sustainable and ethical seafood production," said Stefano Crea, global market and industries director at DNV, in a press release.

"At Skretting, our commitment to delivering sustainable feed begins with responsible sourcing. The ASC Feed Standard provides a robust methodology to better identify and mitigate legal, environmental, and social risks associated with the raw materials we use. Importantly, the standard addresses both environmental and social impacts and offers a strong framework for upholding human rights," added Sergio Alanis, managing director of business unit southern Europe at Skretting.

From October 31 this year, ASC-certified farms must use ASC-certified feed to maintain their certification.

As a result, by achieving this certification, Skretting should strengthen its position as a relevant and reliable partner for ASC-certified farmers. Many of Skretting’s customers already hold ASC certifications, and the company remains committed to aligning with their standards.

"Over time, our commitment to innovation and sustainability has set new benchmarks for aquaculture feed production. We embraced the ASC Feed Standard from its inception, and we are proud to have earned this certification from DNV," added Alanis.
