Department chief Dan Baliao said in a press release that the move will bolster the research centre’s capacity to produce seeds and eventually broodstock of the prime commodity throughout the year.
This, he says, is in line with the centre’s Oplan Balik Sugpo programme, which aims to revive the black tiger shrimp industry in the Philippines. A total of 260 broodstock were sourced from Ivisan, Capiz, while 70 came from Himamaylan, Negros Occidental.
