Russian authorities have informed that from 1 January 2014 all imports of Norwegian salmon, trout, white fish and fish from the pelagic sector, which have not come from a Russian veterinary service approved plant will be stopped.

Russian veterinary authorities stated initially they do not plan to conduct any inspections of new establishments in Norway in 2014.

"I look seriously at the situation. This affects individual businesses hard. The Ministry has already been in contact with the Food Safety Authority and we will sit down to look at how we, as soon as possible, can establish a sound basis for further dialogue with the Russian authorities, said Fisheries Minister Elisabeth Aspaker.
