NORWAY - The production of S1 2009 ready for sea entry ended above 130 million.

In the period from October 2008 until May 2009 the accumulated sales of vaccines to salmon were 128.2 million doses.

Parts of the vaccine sales in September 2008 need to be considered as vaccination of S1 2009, and estimates from Kontali Analysis includes an additional 4.4 million smolt to the calculation. This leaves a total production of above 132 million S1 before any eventual loss, according to a release from Pharmaq.

A consequence of assigning 65 new salmon licenses in 2009 will be a probable need of another 18 to 20 million smolt, and a substantial production of S0 2009 is most welcome. The size of the S0 production in 2008 was calculated to 100 million salmon smolt according numbers from Kontali Analysis.

Considering that the total salmon egg production in 2008/09 was of same size as production in 2007/08, it is not expected any major increase in this year's S 0.

Based on Pharmaq`s twelve months rolling forecast of vaccine sales it is not unlikely that the S 0 production will end at 105 - 110 million this year. For cod the company see another month of reduction from 2.1 million vaccine doses in May 2008 to 1.1 million doses in May 2009.
