New Study to Improve Breeding, Health in Sole Aquaculture

SPAIN - A new research project has been launched which focuses on improving breeding and disease control in the cultivation of sole from aquaculture.

The objective of the agreement, between the Institute of Research and Agricultural and Fisheries of Andalusia (IFAPA) and the company Crops Piscícolas Marinos (Cupimar), is to advance the optimisation of industrial production for sole by improving the reproduction of this species and disease control.

According to the president of IFAPA, Jerome Perez, this two year research contract, called 'Improved breeding and disease control in the production of sole', will be able to improve the reproductive success of the fish.

In addition, this initiative will increase the control of bacterial diseases and animal welfare during production and breeding.
