Biomega has appointed Harald Voltersvik Hernæs as its global sourcing director as part of a new strategic position at the international biorefining company, according to a press release.
Hernæs’ new appointment with Biomega follows a 16-year career at Lerøy Seafood Group, an international seafood company based in Norway. Starting as a logistics and purchasing co-ordinator, Hernæs filed various roles at Lerøy Seafood, including as value chain manager and internal sourcing team manager.
“Today, we welcome Harald into the Biomega team. His depth of knowledge of the aquaculture industry is exceptional and his responsibilities at Biomega will enable him to oversee the entire supply chain from supplier to brand manufacturer,” said Stig Petersen, chief executive officer for the salmon refinery company.
“This is key to retaining a transparent and sustainable value chain from farm to fork, helping the company – and those we work in partnership with – to meet our environmental, social and governance goals. We wish him every success in his new role with us,” he added.
Hernæs joins Biomega during a major growth period, which has seen the company become part of the Life Conquer project, supported by the EU Commission and the Life programme, to exploit the side stream of the salmon processing industry.
“It’s a pleasure to join the Biomega team at such an integral point in the company’s history. Working towards a sustainable and traceable supply chain is hugely important,” commented Hernæs.
