The demand for krill-based shrimp feed ingredients in India has grown sufficiently to persuade Aker BioMarine to establish a new distribution hub in Chennai for its Qrill Aqua products.

Since entering the Indian market in Mumbai in 2018, the krill catching and processing specialist has experienced growing demand for its products, according to a press release issued today.

“India is one of the world’s largest shrimp markets, which makes it of strategic importance for Aker BioMarine. We want to be able to adequately supply our customers with our Qrill products on-demand, which is best done through local presence. That’s why we have chosen Chennai for the location of our new warehouse, where we will continually stock Qrill products,” says Atul Barmann, general manager of Aker BioMarine India.

Aker BioMarine’s presence in Chennai will enable better overall service and a solid supply of buffer stock for the company’s key accounts, as well as open the door to small- and medium-sized accounts looking to purchase Qrill directly.

“Our customers will benefit from a steady supply of Qrill products, from vessel to warehouse, that’s delivery-ready, and already customs cleared. This increases the speed of distribution and provides easy access for customers, who can also benefit from local service and support,” adds Barmann.
