Herpesvirus Outbreak Reported on Spanish Oyster Farm

SPAIN - An outbreak of herpesvirus OsHV-1 has been reported on a Spanish oyster farm.

The affected salt water semi-closed farm is located in Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain.

Of the 50 oysters susceptible, the outbreak led to 30 cases. Apparent morbidity and mortality rates are at 60 per cent.

The source of the outbreak is unknown.
