Hatch Blue seeks junior aquaculture analyst

Hatch Blue is looking to recruit a junior aquaculture analyst to join its early stage investment team in Cork.

The company is a knowledge-based firm focused on sustainable aquaculture and alternative seafood globally. It comprises four business units: investment management, consulting, startup programmes and media. Its 30+ team members work across five offices in Europe, North America and Asia.

To date the company has made over 60 investments, venture-built two companies, run six accelerator programmes, delivered 13 innovation studios, and completed dozens of highly specialised consulting projects for blue chip clients.

The early stage investment team manages all the accelerator-led investments in the Hatch Blue portfolio. This includes initial investment via the Crest accelerator programme, follow-on investments, portfolio management and value creation activity for the portfolio teams.

The junior aquaculture analyst will help to manage and expand Hatch Blue’s investment portfolio. They will need to have strong aquaculture experience and will join a high performing, action-orientated team, working to help Hatch Blue’s investment portfolio achieve a climate-smart, truly sustainable and just seafood transition. Responsibilities

  • Source and evaluate investment opportunities
  • Support with investment analysis and due diligence
  • Support portfolio companies– directly working with the portfolio team members and in coordination with other Hatch Blue business units;
  • Be an ambassador for Hatch Blue in the aquaculture ecosystem.

Requirements

  • At least two years of work experience with a company within the aquaculture sector
  • The ideal candidate will have a scientific background with an exceptional academic track record
  • Holds all relevant documents, has an interest in and capacity to travel world-wide for the role
  • Particular interest in and affinity for aquaculture specifically and food systems in general
  • Exceptional intellect– a fast, accurate, logical, critical thinker with a curious mind
  • Proven analytical abilities and great attention to detail
  • Demonstrated high energy and persistence – known for being execution-driven
  • Can work under their own guidance
  • Ability to collaborate, listen, learn and contribute to create a better outcome
  • Is kind in their dealings with others and has a sense of humour.
