The vessels offer better storage, greater adaptation to the environmental parameters, lower fuel consumption, more security to fishermen on board, and a better health and work environment.

The project includes the construction of four vessels to meet different demands.

The vessels will be for catching snapper in the northern region; fishing with gillnets in the North and Northeast, the lobster catch in the North and Northeast, and the capture of tunas and related species on the northeast coast.

The ultimate goal the Ministry will be the renewal of the national fishing fleet, which are, at present, mostly made up of vessels built more than half a century ago.
