Governor Eugene Balitang said the programme encourages fishery development and production such as the putting up of a complete marketing chain from the producers to the consumers.

The programme is expected to boost the fish industry in the province which will eventually alleviate the economic conditions of our fisherfolks here, Mr Balitang said.

Ifugao is the leading producer of fish in the Cordillera region which, as a landlocked region, has insufficient production of fish.

The launching started with the stocking of fingerlings at Ambuwaya Lake in Kiangan. BFAR-CAR committed to donate boats to be used to clean up the lake, Mr Balitang said.

The municipality- beneficiaries of the programme are Lagawe, Lamut, Hungduan, Kiangan, Alfonso Lista, and Kiangan.
