Norwegian aquaculture production increased from about 1.1 million tonnes in 2011 to 1.3 million tons in 2012, according to statistics from FHL (Norwegian Seafood Federation).
The Fisheries Directorate's environmental monitoring under plants (MOM-B surveys) shows the same positive trend in 2012 as in 2011: In 2012, 93 per cent of the plants 'good' or 'very good' environmental status under the facility.
IMR says the risk assessment of Norwegian aquaculture for 2012 confirms the impression that the current production volumes are generally not a risk for local and regional congestion because of emissions of organic substances and nutrients.
