The Great Taste awards are considered one of the industry’s most rigorous and respected accreditation schemes, with over 14,000 products blind-tasted by a panel of around 500 experts. Mowi’s Scottish Salmon Fillets were praised for a “clean aroma and oily richness”, with judges noting that “the flakes were well-defined” and has a ‘’firm yet tender’’ texture. The product’s “gentle straightforward flavour” and “lack of fatty flabbiness” were also commended.
Whilst there are many smoked salmon winners for Great Taste, Mowi salmon has been recognised for its fresh salmon ‘chef’s cut’ fillets.
“The Great Taste mark is a stamp of excellence and one of the most recognised accolades in the food and drink industry, so we are incredibly honoured for our MOWI Scottish Salmon Fillets two pack to be recognised this way,’’ commented Robin Brown, technical and development director at Mowi consumer products UK, in a press release.
The judging process is conducted entirely blind, with all products assessed without branding or packaging. Entries go through several stages of evaluation to ensure consistency and impartiality.
“Our success is testament to the hard work and 60 years of expertise from the Mowi team at every stage from egg to plate in raising and preparing quality salmon. From our west coast colleagues who care for our salmon every day to all those involved in Rosyth when hand selecting and preparing the best for chef-inspired, restaurant quality salmon for our customers to enjoy at home. Thank you for your hard work and well done to all,” added Brown.
