Further funding is being requested, extending it until 14 December 2012.
The total amount calculated to address the funding of these grants is 2,819,529 euros, to be financed by the European Union under the European Fisheries Fund.
Grants will be provided, in general, for minimum periods of one month and a maximum of six months of temporary cessation, continuously conducted between 15 June and 14 December 2012 inclusive.
On December 15, 2011, the fleet had to leave the fishery in Morocco, and a considerable number of crew of fishing vessels have been affected by the inability to continue fishing in these waters, while establishing a new Protocol Fishing.
Given the severity and uniqueness of the current situation, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment called for aid for the temporary cessation to shipowners or crew. This ended on 14 June 2012. Since no agreement has yet being reached between the EU and Morocco, extending the aid for six months is necessary unless the situation is reversed.

SPAIN - The Ministry of Fisheries has requested an extension to the aid being provided to owners of Spanish fishing vessels affected by the temporary suspension of the fisheries agreement between the EU and Morocco.
