The event will also serve as a platform for sharing knowledge and fostering debate on how blue food value chain development can inform national and global policy

The event, scheduled for 12-13 September 2024 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, will bring together a diverse range of stakeholders, including public and private sector representatives, value chain experts, practitioners, partner organizations, and the donor community.

The forum will highlight the progress and insights gained from FISH4ACP's work with local authorities, fishing communities, and other stakeholders in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. This initiative has aimed to unlock the potential of sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, with early results suggesting it can stimulate inclusive growth, enhance food security, and reduce environmental impacts.

The event will also serve as a platform for sharing knowledge and fostering debate on how blue food value chain development can inform national and global policy. Discussions will cover the role of aquatic food value chains in supporting international objectives, such as the UN’s 2030 Agenda, the European Union’s Green Deal, and the FAO’s Blue Transformation agenda.

Key topics to be addressed include identifying good practices and lessons learned, exploring opportunities for expanding aquatic food value chain development, and discussing potential investment opportunities to scale these efforts within countries and among the donor community.

Participants are encouraged to register early to engage in these crucial discussions and explore how aquatic food value chains can contribute to feeding a growing global population while maintaining environmental sustainability.
