The Hong Kong-based firm, which is linked to Australian grouper producer The Company One and also operates in Australia and Germany, secured the top honour for its next-generation aquaculture platform that combines genetics, biosecurity, and water recirculation to raise fish in a healthier, more sustainable way, with enhanced traceability.

The invention brings together genomic selection, the production of specific-pathogen-free fingerlings, and water recirculation systems based on filtration, treatment and continuous water reuse. This process improves growth, robustness and resistance to fish diseases, while significantly reducing water consumption. Raised in closed systems supported by artificial intelligence, the fish benefit from a controlled environment without the use of medicines or chemicals. Furthermore, the data collected continuously supports ongoing improvement of the system.

In addition, The Oasis ONE opens up new possibilities for preserving marine resources and restoring certain species, by reintroducing some of them into their natural habitat. The jury recognised a solution that is replicable, scalable, and deployable on a large scale, including in urban environments, addressing today’s challenges in food security, sustainability and animal health.
