Yessotoxin Allowable Limit Change for Bivalve Molluscs

NORWAY - The Norwegian Food Safety Authority is now conducting a hearing for the proposed amendment which would change the limits for yessotoxins in live bivalve molluscs.

The limits would change from 1 mg to 3.75 mg per kilogram.

There is also a EFSA assessment which concludes that the limits for yessotoxins in live bivalve molluscs may be raised, unless it poses a health risk to consumers.

The change is in line with the EFSA opinion.
