Grieg Seafood has appointed Shetlander Grant Cumming as its new chief operating officer for its North American farming operations.

Grant Cumming led the sale of Grieg Seafood Shetland to Scottish Sea Farms in 2021

Previously, as MD of Grieg Seafood’s Shetland operations, Cumming led the turn-around of operations before the region was sold in 2021. He will be a part of Grieg Seafood’s executive management team and is due to start in his new role in the first quarter of 2023.

“I am pleased to welcome Grant Cumming as our new COO for North America. Grant does not only have extensive strategic and operational experience from the salmon farming industry - he also knows Grieg Seafood well and shares our values. We were impressed with how he led the restructuring of our Shetland business, turned it into a profitable region and oversaw a successful sale in 2021. We look forward to having him as a part of our team once again,” said Andreas Kvame, CEO of Grieg Seafood, in a press release.

Cumming has had different roles in the salmon farming industry for almost 30 years. He has a BSc in zoology from the University of Aberdeen and an MSc in mariculture.

“I am delighted to be rejoining Grieg Seafood. I have a lot of respect for the talented individuals that form our Canada team on both the East Coast and West Coast and I look forward to working with them to develop our operation in Canada in a sustainable manner," said Cumming.
