November 2007 Catfish Feed Deliveries Up 26 Percent from Last Year
Foodsize catfish feed delivered totaled 21,830 tons, up 29 percent from the corresponding month a year ago. Feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 544 tons, down 34 percent from the corresponding month a year ago.
November feed delivered to Mississippi catfish growers for foodsize fish totaled 8,855 tons, up 52 percent from last year. Mississippi accounted for 41 percent of the total foodsize catfish feed delivered to U.S. farmers.
The other major States with catfish feed deliveries for foodsize fish in November and their comparison to the previous year were: Alabama with 6,628 tons, up 22 percent; Arkansas with 2,076 tons, up 68 percent; and Louisiana with 1,382 tons, up significantly from last year.
