The National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (CONAPESCA) announced the lifting of the tuna fishing ban, allowing for tuna fishing to commence, in accordance with strict management measures.

This fishery is in third place of national fish production by volume, with 133,000 tons and its economic value is in the second place of production.

The average catch of tuna by the Mexican fleet in recent years has remained stable, reflecting the positive impact of conservation measures applied by Mexico under its international commitments in the field.
