United Fish Industries, North East Lincolnshire Council and Bondholders will sponsor the upcoming Summit, which is funded and organised by Seafish.
Paul Williams, CEO at Seafish, said: “The Humber Seafood summit is not only an important event for the industry but also for the region. It is great to see both industry and regional organisations become involved in making this year’s event bigger and better than ever.”
Major sponsor United Fish Industries, the only producer of fishmeal and fish oil in the UK and Ireland, has been involved in the seafood industry since 1994 when it first took over the largest fishmeal plant in Grimsby.
Mike Hryckowian, general manager at United Fish Industries, said: “For many years UFI has been involved with the fish industry and it is our intention to stay involved. For us the Humber Seafood Summit is an important vehicle to help move the UK seafood industry forward in a cohesive way.
“As a major supporter of the seafood industry in the UK and Ireland, we decided to sponsor the summit this year because we want to see a successful and sustainable industry going forward.”
North East Lincolnshire Council is also playing its part and sponsoring this year’s summit to support the growth of the seafood industry.
Cllr Shaw, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Assets, NELC, said: “The council is proud to be sponsors of the 2013 Humber Seafood Summit and this demonstrates our commitment and support to this key sector. The seafood and food manufacturing sectors remain crucial for our local economy and the main themes which will be explored at the summit based around sustainability and integrity are so important to this industry and its future potential.”
Bond Holders, the third and final sponsor of this year’s summit is a 180 strong group of businesses which work together to promote the Humber region.
Peter Aarosin, Chair of Bondholders, said: “Bondholders are delighted to be working with Seafish to bring together delegates from across Europe for this important event in the Humber. Over 70% of seafood consumed in the UK is processed by companies in the Humber, so what better place to host this international conference. Innovation in seafood businesses represents a huge growth opportunity for the Humber and helps deliver on the region’s ambitions to realise the potential of the Humber, the UK’s Energy Estuary.”
