SFF Welcome Seafood Consumption Drive

Food safety & handling Politics +2 more

SCOTLAND, UK - The announcement today (15 May) that the Scottish Government is planning a major push to get consumers to eat more seafood has been warmly supported by the Scottish Fishermens Federation (SFF).

The SFF say it hopes the plans, which were unveiled by Fisheries Secretary Richard Lochhead at the Fishing 2009 exhibition in Glasgow, will provide welcome support to the Scottish fishing sector and help highlight to consumers that fish provides an excellent value-for-money and healthy eating option.

Bertie Armstrong, SFF chief executive, said: We are delighted to support this new initiative to promote the consumption of seafood.

Scottish fishermen are proud to be leading the way in the harvesting of sustainable seafood and we are confident that consumers are increasingly taking this message onboard by recognising the taste and health benefits of eating fish.
