The new certificate requires that farmed fish have only been fed feed containing no pork protein.

"Authorities in the UAE expressed a desire that the Norwegian Food Safety Authority document that Norwegian farmed fish are not fed pork protein," says Martin Hlinka, advisor at Norwegian Food Safety Section for export and import.

FSA recommends Norwegian exporters to ensure that local authorities are aware of the new certificate before sending goods.

"The certificate will be issued manually from Monday 9 September and will be available through MATS Forms Services in late October," says Mr Hlinka.
