Norway has an international responsibility to protect the North Atlantic salmon stocks. The Food Safety Authority's intention is that regions with proven infection of G. salaris will be covered by the same regulations as is now set for the Skibotn region. Previously, similar regulations have been established for Romsdal and Vefsn regions.
Area Regulations
To prevent the spread of infection restrictions now include activities in the region such as, fishing and water sports.
FSA is now concentrating on measures to provide better information and enhancing prevention through better disinfection procedures, which the new regulation will now allow for.
