Minister Opens New Fisheries Office in Port Alberni

CANADA - Keith Ashfield, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, has opened a new Fisheries and Oceans Canada office in Port Alberni, British Columbia.

I am pleased to open our new Fisheries and Oceans Canada office in Port Alberni, said Minister Ashfield. This new office will enhance our continued presence in a community that has strong ties to this regions fisheries.

Employees at the new office will perform duties related to fisheries management and conservation and protection. The new office replaces an older facility.

Working from our new office, we will continue to serve the community of Port Alberni and manage the west coast fisheries for commercial, First Nations and recreational harvesters. said Minister Ashfield.
