The lobster hatchery is expected to produce up to 40 million pounds of tropical Sabah native spiny lobsters when it reaches maximum capacity in 2029, creating more than 14,000 high income jobs by 2022, reports DailyExpress.

The project will use RM2 billion worth of investment to create the world's first fully integrated commercial lobster hatchery.

With a strong lobster market, the new facility will provide opportunities, investment and income for Malaysia.

The project is a joint venture of the Malaysian government, Darden Restaurants and Ever Nexus.
