UK - The managing director of premium smoked salmon producer Lossie Seafoods has praised his employees for being the driving force behind the prestigious award just presented to the company in recognition of its export success that has seen it continue to expand into new markets over the past year.

The Buckie based company was presented with the Moray Chamber of Commerce Exporter of the Year Award at its annual awards ceremony on Friday night (30 September).

At the same event last year, Lossie Seafoods scooped the Moray Chamber Business Award.

Lossie Seafoods, which employs around 50 people, has enjoyed another year of strong export growth, with markets in Italy, Switzerland and the Middle East proving particularly buoyant. Among the leading establishments supplied is the seven star Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai.

Associated Seafoods Ltd acquired Lossie Seafoods, along with prawn processor Moray Seafoods in July this year, and according to joint managing director Victor West, the award is a tribute to all the staff across the two Buckie companies.

“We are delighted to have achieved this prestigious award, which recognises the huge efforts put in by all our staff in ensuring that we produce premium products that are much sought after,” he said.

“This enthusiasm has been instrumental in our continued expansion in the export market for premium Scottish smoked salmon to some of the best hotels and restaurants in the world. Our ongoing strategy will be to continue to develop such markets.”
