The announcement comes amid positive third-quarter financial performance for the Netherlands-based Kingfish Company. The strategic partnership will allow Kingfish to sell its yellowtail (also known as ricciola or greater amberjack) across Italy in Conad supermarkets.
The Kingfish Company uses a land-based aquaculture system to produce high-quality yellowtail kingfish. The fish is antibiotic-free and non-GMO, and has been certified by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP).
The Ricciola Kingfish will be sold under Conad’s own brand, Percorso Qualità, certifying a guaranteed highly controlled supply chain. Conad is a leader in Italy’s retail sector, reporting 15 percent market share in 2020.
