Intervet At Aqua Sur 2006 - CHILE - Intervet Veterinaria Chile Ltda. had a very attractive booth at the recent (March 22-25) Aqua Sur tradeshow in Puerto Montt. According to the organisers, the tradeshow was attended by over 13,000 visitors who came to see the 700 companies from 35 countries that exhibited.

As well as the full team from the locally-based Chilean AAH Division (see photo above) being on hand to meet and greet customers and visitors, the other Intervet staff in attendance included the General Manager of Intervet Chile (Andres Engelbreit), the Director of Intervets AAH Division (Alistair Brown), the Director of R&D at Intervet Norbio, Bergen (Dag Knappskog) and the Marketing & Pharmaceutical Manager of Intervets AAH Division (Dr. William Enright).

Gonazon coming to Chile

At the trade show, Dr. Enright also gave a presentation on Intervets new spawning aid, Gonazon, which is currently undergoing registration in Chile (expected Marketing Authorization in late 2006). The title of the presentation was: Gonazon A Spawning and Broodstock Management Tool. (see also Intervet AAH Newsletter no. 7).The meeting room was packed and there was a lot of interest in the product. Gonazon is the only licensed GnRH spawning aid for fish in the EU and Norway.

Dr. Enright also had the opportunity to visit some of Chiles excellent salmon hatcheries during his visit to Chile. It is clear that there is a great deal of investment taking place in Chile to make it self-sufficient in the supply of high-quality eggs and smolts.

Norwegians on Tour

Commercial Director Roy-Olav Hovlid and Customer Support Officer Arild Kollevaag from Intervet Norbio Bergens Commercial Operations Dept. were also visiting the show along with a group of 14 people from Norwegian fish farming companies, organised with Europharma (a major health products distributor in Norway) and three other Norwegian fish farming support companies. In addition to spending two days at Aqua Sur, the group also visited several freshwater smolt production sites, on-growing farms, processing sites and feed plants. As well as helping out with the organisation of the groups hectic schedule in Chile, Intervet Chiles AAH Division treated the visiting group to a wonderful evening, fully taking over a whole restaurant!

Oscar Parra, Manager of the AAH Division in Chile, gave an excellent presentation on Chiles aquaculture industry, disease problems and health management solutions. This was followed by a very tasty traditional Chilean dinner and local wine. During all the various Aqua Sur activities, Intervet staff heartily enjoyed meeting all our friends and customers, both new and old. Thank you for joining us in beautiful Puerto Montt!
