Paw Petersen, CEO of OxyGuard International, has spent more than 25 years in the development of technologies that support more sustainable, data-driven aquaculture production. OxyGuard’s core focus is on delivering reliable solutions that enable fish farmers to better understand and control their production and environments.
At the same time the specialist company participates in selected research-based development projects in close collaboration with research institutions and industry partners.
In a presentation at the Aquaculture – Driving Sustainable Growth Conference on 22 September, the opening day of IceFish, Paw will outline one such partnership with DTU, the Technical University of Denmark.
The PhD project examined if acoustic monitoring combined with AI could help better understand fish feeding behaviour, with sound patterns revealing when fish were actively feeding, helping RAS operators and others avoid overfeeding, reduce costly feed waste, and improve both water quality and welfare.
Pedersen said in a press release, “I’m really looking forward to IceFish and the opportunity to share how we at OxyGuard are working with data in practice. For me, it’s not about technology for the sake of it, but about making everyday operations easier and more reliable. When we move from monitoring to actually using data for decisions, we give farmers better control, less uncertainty and a stronger foundation for both performance and sustainability.”
Conference delegates will hear how this AI innovation and other data analysis has a practical implementation in real production environments, and how the shift from passive monitoring to active control represents a significant step towards a more sustainable, efficient and resilient aquaculture sector.
This year’s 15th edition of IceFish will combine a dedicated one-day Aquaculture – Driving Sustainable Growth Conference on 22 September with two full days of 100 percent Fish for Profit, offering delegates insights into the trends, technologies and opportunities shaping the future of the sector.
