French dominate seafood product shortlist

Over a third of the successful entries for this years Seafood Excellence Global awards competition (16 out of the 43 chosen) come from French firms.

Meanwhile, UK processors are conspicuous by their absence on the list, while only two products from the US and two from Norway have made the grade.

In terms of ingredients, salmon is much the most popular contender, being included in 16 of the 43 products, while the more esoteric offerings include basa teriyaki, marinated seaweed and ‘Cristaux de la Mer’.

Always a highlight of Seafood Expo Global, the competition features and recognizes the best seafood products represented at the exposition. The winners will be announced on 25 April 2017 in Auditorium 2000.

Two grand prizes will be awarded for the Best Retail Product and the Best Hotel/Restaurant/Catering (HORECA) Product. Five special awards will be presented for innovation, convenience, health & nutrition, retail packaging and seafood product line.
