Fish Catches Up in October 2012

ICELAND - Total catch of Icelandic vessels in October 2012 was 99,264 tonnes compared with 77,062 tonnes in October 2011, according to Statistics Iceland.

Demersal species accounted for 46,000 tonnes, thereof cod 23,000 tonnes, haddock 4,300 tonnes, redfish 6,600 tonnes and saithe 5,600 tonnes. The pelagic catch was 59,800 tonnes.

At constant prices the volume of the catch increased by 19.5 per cent in October 2012 compared with October 2011.
