The Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) has offered US $200 million investment in a project to improve the transmission and distribution of clean energy to 55,000 hectares of shrimp farms in Ecuador.

This will, according to Ecuador News, improve shrimp productivity across Guayas, El Oro, Manabi, Esmeraldas, and Santa Elena provinces, as well as benefitting 6,500 households through rural electrification.

The credit will last for 15 years, with a grace period of 4.5 years and an interest rate of 4.06 percent.
