Towers Thompson Discuss UK Seafood Division

Economics +1 more

UK - The unexpected collapse of British Seafood has presented Towers-Thompson, a UK international food group, with an opportunity to set up a UK Seafood Division.

Towers Thompson specialises in the import, export and distribution of chilled, frozen and cooked meats and poultry. In addition, the group also sources and distributes a wide variety of fish, seafood, vegetables, dairy products and convenience foods.

In March 2007, the group purchased a seafood import and distribution company called Rassau Seafood GmbH (Hamburg) from Maple Leaf Toronto.

A spokesperson from Towers Thompson told TheFishSite that Rassau Seafood has proved to have been a very successful acquisition and as a consequence the management decided some time ago to open a similar operation here in the UK.

"As a result we are currently talking to a number of key personnel in the various British Seafood subsidiary companies with a view to engaging a team of up to 10 people to open a UK based seafood division. "

Until more is confirmed, the company were hesitant to say more, but did say that once a decision was made they would be providing futher information.
