Total Value of Catch Increased by 23.4 Per Cent

ICELAND - Total value of catch of Icelandic vessels amounted to 70.7 billion ISK in January-May 2012, compared with 57.3 billion ISK in the first five months of 2011. Total value increased therefore by 23.4 per cent between years.

Total value of demersal species accounted for ISK 45.5 billion; thereof cod ISK 24 billion, haddock 6.8 billion, and redfish 7.1 billion. Total value of pelagic species accounted for ISK 17.1 billion and flatfish catches for 5.3 billion.
